Green Grant Scheme – What we know so far

The Government’s Green Homes Grant Scheme went live at the end of September 2020 and is set to run until the end of March 2021. Since its launch, there has been a lot of discussion about how the scheme operates – and it’s fair to say the process is not always straightforward, either for contractors or for property owners.

Green Grant Scheme: Where Things Stand

One of the biggest challenges at present is the shortage of competent contractors approved to carry out the work. To take part in the scheme, all contractors must be Trustmark registered (which we are), and in addition, they must hold PAS2030 accreditation.

PAS2030 is a new requirement for this scheme and goes beyond what was previously necessary. We are currently going through the accreditation process to ensure we are fully approved to deliver work under the scheme.

Our Approach: Fabric First

We assess properties for Energy Efficiency Measures (EEMs) with a fabric first approach. This means looking at the property as a whole, ensuring improvements are made in the right order and with the bigger picture in mind.

For example, if insulation is installed, it’s vital to also consider ventilation. Otherwise, homeowners may face condensation and damp problems in the future. A proper survey, carried out by a qualified Retrofit Coordinator in line with PAS2035 recommendations, is essential.

We are qualified Retrofit Coordinators, which means we can ensure your property is assessed correctly before any work begins. Unfortunately, many past government schemes failed because insulation was installed without understanding the building’s overall performance – a mistake we help you avoid.

Next Steps

Until we have completed our PAS2030 accreditation, we are not providing quotes for work directly under the Green Homes Grant Scheme. However, we are able to:

  • Carry out EEM surveys to assess your property’s needs.
  • Provide professional guidance to ensure your home is prepared for retrofitting in line with the scheme.
  • Put you on the correct path so you can take full advantage of the funding when the work is ready to proceed.

Stay Updated

We will update this page as soon as our accreditation is complete and we are fully able to undertake Green Homes Grant Scheme work.

In the meantime, if you would like to arrange an EEM survey or discuss how the scheme could apply to your home, please get in touch with our team.
